Design and Studio Assistant to Leyla Acaroglu

Based in Melbourne, Australia. 

Dr. Leyla Acaroglu is a leading expert in social innovation, sustainability and design. Recently named Champion of the Earth by the UNEP, she is the founder of several pioneering sustainable design agencies and educational initiatives, all developed to activate positive social and environmental change. Her businesses include NYC-based Disrupt Design and The UnSchool, and Melbourne-based Eco Innovators.  As a frequent traveler, Dr. Acaroglu requires a Melbourne-based design and studio assistant to support her local and global initiatives whilst she is on the road.

 

This role is located in Melbourne, Australia with a possibility of some international travel as required for projects. This role is is perfect for an incredibly motivated and skilled early career designer interested in education and sustainability, and passionate about making positive change through design. The Design and Studio Assistant will work directly with Dr. Acaroglu providing an array of support services including design, social media management, and organising tour logistics. Whilst based in Australia, the candidate will be tapping into the global team (based in the US, Latin America and Europe).

 

Design and Studio Assistant Role Outline

  • Multifaceted support role for a creative professional interested in sustainability, social innovation and education

  • Perfect for an early or mid career designer with excellent organisational skills and a passion to work in social change

  • Direct support to Dr. Leyla Acaroglu in her global creative projects, speaking engagements, client work, personal activities, and multimedia projects

  • Work independently in Melbourne and virtually with Dr. Acaroglu’s global team on the range of creative intervention projects across all of Dr. Acaroglu’s initiatives

 

Duties Include:

  • Design work (graphic, digital and product)

  • Project management and scheduling

  • General operations organisation (such as scheduling events, managing programs, arranging activities and tours)

  • Social media management and scheduling

  • Marketing and communications projects

  • Personal accounts management

  • Customer support and engagement

  • Invoicing, bookkeeping and studio management

  • Contributing to Dr. Acaroglu’s global team projects where needed

  • Managing some personal administrative needs

  • Possibility of traveling as tour assistance during local and international programs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional design role

  • Experience with project management and managing others

  • Multimedia skills including website design and audio/video production

  • High level of organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills

 

 


 

Hours and rate negotiable based on availability and experience
